Industries of India API and agent access

A public, read-only JSON API for this research publication. No authentication required. This is a snapshot of the published catalog, updated with site releases. All data is already published on this site; the API simply makes it structured for machines and AI agents. AI agents can also use the MCP, A2A and agent-skills interfaces below.

Endpoints

GET /api/industries - the full industry classification tree (273 GICS-based categories: sector, industry group, industry, sub-industry) with names, hierarchy, GICS codes and canonical page URLs.

GET /api/books - the book library: titles, page counts, publication dates, page URLs and PDF links.

Example

curl https://www.industriesofindia.com/api/books

For machines

OpenAPI specification: /api/openapi.json

API catalog (RFC 9727): /.well-known/api-catalog

Pages also support Markdown content negotiation: send Accept: text/markdown to any page URL to receive Markdown instead of HTML.

MCP server

Stateless MCP (Streamable HTTP) endpoint: POST /mcp. Supported protocol versions 2025-11-25, 2025-06-18, 2025-03-26. One read-only tool, search_catalog, finds industries and books by keyword and returns source URLs. No authentication is needed for public reads. Server card: /server-card (also /mcp/server-card and /.well-known/mcp/server-card.json).

A2A

Agent card: /.well-known/agent-card.json. A2A 1.0 HTTP+JSON endpoint: POST /a2a/message:send with header A2A-Version: 1.0. Synchronous keyword lookup over the same published catalog; streaming, tasks and push are not supported.

Agent skills

Skills index: /.well-known/agent-skills/index.json. The catalog-lookup skill documents the MCP and A2A interfaces with examples and limits.

Agent registration and OAuth

Optional anonymous agent registration with expiring read-only credentials is documented in /auth.md. Third-party apps can ask a registered owner for delegated read-only access to their registration status via OAuth 2.0 (authorization code + PKCE, scope registration.status.read only), documented in /oauth.md. Registration is optional: public pages and this API need no account or token.

Signed bot requests

The site's outbound catalog link checker signs its requests (RFC 9421, Ed25519): see /bot.md and the public key directory at /.well-known/http-message-signatures-directory.

Usage policy

Content-use preferences are declared in robots.txt via Content Signals: AI training, search and AI input are permitted.

Security

To report a security vulnerability, email [email protected]. Disclosure contact and expiry are published in /.well-known/security.txt (RFC 9116).
